On Sunday morning, April 17th, residents of a district in Iitate, Fukushima gathered at the community center and had a meeting to decide what to do. However, they couldn’t reach any decision on that day because of wildfire.
In the afternoon on the same day, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano visited the village. A photojournalist Takashi Morizumi reports:
Chief Cabinet Secretary Edano first told the mayor, “We were able to manage the situation without harming peoples’ health so far.” Doesn’t he have any idea in his head that it will cause many diseases later?
There must be many residents who have already exposed to nearly 20 millisievert of radiation.
[The government] hadn’t conducted enough investigation and hadn’t ordered the residents to evacuate as soon as the possibility [of receiving 20 mSv/year] was raised. This is a horrible crime.
Perhaps, they are wishing that nothing would happen during their term.
